Payments and banks

The processes in payment transactions describe the systemically important processes for the automated booking of incoming and outgoing payment flows. The basis for the control of payment transactions are the "bank accounts" and the "forms of payment".

Banks

The banks are kept as a subledger, whose entries are automatically transferred to the general ledger. The settings on a bank account are used to control the corresponding import and export processes. Data communication (import/export) is mapped with the help of a banking program. This program imports the data of outgoing payment transactions (SEPA) and makes the account statements (MT940) available for further processing.

Payment export

Payment processing is carried out via the Continia OPplus Payment Export add-on module. This must be set up in general. Payment forms and payment methods must be set up for the creation of payment proposals. Forms of payment can be bank, cash or similar. A G/L account or bank account can be deposited on them, as well as a default payment method, such as SEPA.

For the posting, the payment posting matrix must be set up for each combination of payment method and bank.

Payment import

Payment import is carried out via the Continia OPplus Payment Import add-on module. This must be set up in general. A payment import interface is set up for each document that is imported. The document types can be account statements in MT940 format, CAMT format, or CSV format. As well as other payment receipts from payment service providers, e.g. credit card payments in EPO format, remittance advice notes in REMADV format or CSV format.

For automatic settlement determination during import, GV code account assignment rules and general account assignment rules are created.

Account statement posting

The statement posting typically processes and posts the MT940 formats of the external banking program. The account statement contains all transactions via "incoming" and "outgoing" payment transactions. The program recognizes the payments of the account statement and compares them with invoices, orders, etc. that have already been posted, thus relieving the user of the assignment.
